Between the Ligurian coast and the low Piemonte, the land of Bormida Valley represents a suggestive synthesis of traditions and different environments: the particular geographical position has given this valley an important link function between the Alps and the sea.

Bormida Valley represents, in fact, a border land where the not far sea, melts with very green hills (this is one of the most woody areas in Italy): the uncontaminated nature, the calmness of the villages merged into the green, are things which worth a visit to Bormida Valley. Tourists of the coast should not undervalue the knowledge of Ligurian hinterland: it is in fact a lung of fresh air, a treasure of natural cooking made of mushrooms, game, wine and truffles. Cooking is not completely Ligurian any more, but it tastes of Piemonte, where mushrooms and truffles play the greatest part: also red wine “Dolcetto” and “Barolo of Langa” substitutes the white wine of the sea.

From our inn leave a series of path, practicable by bike, by horse and on foot which allow to walk or ride for an hour or for a day through always new and different areas. From a Mediterranean landscape to a hill environment full of green woods.
For some years, in fact, horse tourism and bike tourism have been involving an increasing number of people: both the horse and bike are great adventure mates and they help nature lovers to explore places otherwise impossible to reach, respecting the environment.

Dogs and horses are our best friends: the large spaces outside the inn will allow the guests to take their pets with them, after previous agreement about stabling conditions. If we are free, we will lead you to excursions and show you the most suggestive paths, riding together through enchanting beech woods.

Near the inn there are naturalistic areas worth to be seen like the protected area of Bric Tana and the Three Kings Valley and the wet zone of Piangiaschi. The Bric Tana, which lays on a surface of 170 hectars inside Millesimo countryside, has got several karst needles, caves and dolinas: some excavations by the Orpe cave have brought to light various Ligurian settlements of the bronze and menhir age with rock engravings.
The wet zone of Piangiaschi, instead, is easy to be reached through a half an hour path which starts from the inn: it is a private area which can be visited on demand and it is relevant for the ecosystem of Bormida Valley, as it is crowded with a lot of bird species which stop there during migration. The most common visitors are herons and moor-hens. This area hosts a lot of amphibians as well and in the late spring it offers a great landscape with water-lilies and wild orchids in bloom.

At the inn you will find maps which will lead the tourist, even the least expert, to the discovery of Bormida Valley interland, really rich of attractions, not only natural but also hystorical and cultural.

Excursions to Osiglia lake

A few kilometres from the inn (15 min by car, ! hour by bike, 2 hours and a half by horse, through wonderful woods) you will reach Osiglia lake, one of the most beloved places by people in Bormida Valley and especially by fishermen.
The lake, an artificial dike of the 1930s, is one of the most beautiful spots of the Ligurian interland: very clear waters which in summer shine in blue brightness. Thanks to its big size and ideal conditions(calm waters, wind and uncontaminated nature) in Summer are hold canoeing, surfing and sailing courses. As its waters are rich of fish, important fishing competitions have place, among which a world championship of trout fishing.
